At least that’s how it seemed to us. Great meeting where we stuffed pillows for cancer patients undergoing chemo. And then we had a wonderful April Charity Bee at Joanne’s.

Thanks to member Vickie DuBose, for showing her ‘quick’ quilting ideas for making charity quilts. She said she knocked this one out in no time. Cute Mickey Mouse material didn’t hurt the concept at all!
Are we serious about charity or what? Charity Chair Joanne brought the materials and we brought the ENERGY. Way to go AHQG. Go here if the pictures don’t show above.
Got a new design for the pillows now. Much more aerodynamic!
The meeting this month was memorable. First of all, the desserts were FABULOUS! I should know – I brought one of them. Man do May birthdays know how to celebrate! But I digress. The Show and Tell was its’ usual success – so make sure you stop in there and get a peek (click here to get on over there). Also – fellow member, Cathy Kropp presented a really engaging program centered on paper piecing. Go HERE to see pics from here presentaton Isn’t it wonderful to be in an organization with so much talent, and such varied interests! Thanks, Cathy. also – some photos of the Tres Amigas latest efforts can be found HERE
The amazing ‘Tres Amigas’ have come out of retirement just in time to display some wonderful quilts for charity. The theme they used obviously centered on Halloween, and are sure to become treasures to some children in need later this year. Welcome back ladies!! And great work!
Here are the photos Joanne has shared to post on the website. The Guild certainly out did itself this year. Lots of fun, colorful and useful quilts for charity. The last of the photos show the quilts being delivered to the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.
Joanne wanted to share the photos of the cancer pillows being delivered. Other photos in this group include a few of the charity quilts that were given out this year as well as the photos of the cash prizes being given out to this year’s Charity Challenge. Don’t miss out next year!!!!
We are going to be making Christmas pillowcases for the children’s hospital. I have added these kits to our challenge kits. You will be able to pick up kits of just Christmas pillowcases (cut out by our Charity Bee) from me starting at the September 2015 guild meeting. I will try to take them to the Children’s hospital in November. Hopefully this will help to brighten the kids rooms. Holidays have to be hard for them and every little bit of cheer will help.
Until recently, I had maintained Charity info on a separate page, It is now moved to this blog and kept up by the Charity Chair (currently Joanne Krepps). If you want to see info from those earlier postings – click the link below.
